The exuberant "spumante" has a pretty straw yellow color nuanced with faint greenish highlights. The bubbles are tiny and persistent. The nose is subtle and delicate yet complex. Fruit-led aromas of lemon, pear and Mandarin orange are joined by notions of quince and almond shells. Generous structure and flavors of red apple skins, cantaloupe, grapefruit and lime zest on the palate are enhanced by long aromatic length.

Martellozzo was founded in 1899 and is now owned and operated by Pierra Martellozzo, who is known as a determined force in the wine world of the Veneto region. She is especially fond of her line of Terra Magre wines, which she says are born almost magically on the dry, stony soils of the Friulli appellation. Their spumante wines, made from the indigenous Ribolla Gialla grape, are particularly appreciated for their freshness and fruitiness.
The Terre Magre makes for a superb aperitif that is equally at ease with shellfish, grilled fish or a well-seasoned smoked salmon. Superb as an anytime wine, Ribolla Gialla Spumante can be enjoyed at table from starter to sweet, with the sole exceptions of red meats and game. Consider making one of my family's all time favorite foods, my Famous Roast Garlic Crab. The crab will work fantastically with the wine.
