This mature, varietally correct Pinot Noir delivers exceptional value. A complex bouquet of black cherry
liqueur and rhubarb has an edge of forest floor scents. Black plum and black cherry dominate the palate
with a tinge of lemon zest and more conifer and underbrush. With a luscious palate, it is medium-bodied
with outstanding depth of fruit and a soft texture.
Black fruits, rhubarb, forest floor, lemon zest.
This Estate grown Pinot reflects the unique terroir of Isabel Estate. Mike Tiller and his family have nurtured
this wonderful distinctive property. Inspired by the quality of their fruit and the dramatic successes of their
neighbors, the Tillers decided to produce and market their own wines under the Isabel label beginning in
1994. Patricia Miranda, a native of Chile’s Maipo Valley, is their winemaker with experience from many of
the world’s greatest wine regions, including Washington’s Yakima Valley; Sancerre, France; and Germany’s
Mosel region. Located on the northeast corner of the South Island, Marlborough is one of New Zealand’s
sunniest and driest areas where low-fertility soils reduce vigor, decrease yields and produce spirited, aromatic
wines. Initially celebrated for outstanding Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir has gradually emerged as
Marlborough’s most exciting grape variety.
Isabel’s rich, elegant Pinot Noir is characterized by soft tannins and buoyant fruit, making it an easygoing
partner at the dinner table. The wine’s graceful palate, supple tannins and earthy notes will be well
complemented by medium-bodied meats like duck, pork, game and poultry or full-flavored fish like salmon
and tuna. Mushrooms are a classic pairing with Pinot Noir and the earthy characteristics of the wine will
marry beautifully with both fresh and dried versions.
The dry, infertile soils of Marlborough force the vines to struggle, proving that for vines at least, less is
more and suffering builds character.
