This full throttle Zinfandel shows bold rich fruit which floods the mouth with flavors of ripe blackberry, black plum, baking spices, caramel and grated orange. With good balance and structure, the wine has distinctive Dry Creek Valley tannins with a note of earthiness.

Vite Vecchio is a very limited production, family-operated, estate-grown Zinfandel from the renowned Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County, where wines of distinction have been cultivated for over 150 years. The vines are head pruned and dry farmed in the old-world style delivering small berry clusters yielding less than 2 tons per acre. Aged for 16 months in French oak, the wine is then bottled unfiltered to retain its intense varietal character.
With its plentiful fruit and classical structure, the Vite Vecchio Zinfandel is particularly food-friendly. Beef, lamb and pork are great partners, as are salty meats, such as a platter of artisanal salumi, grilled sausages or a steak sprinkled with salt and then grilled. We suggest complementing the Vite Vecchio spice notes with seasonings like black pepper, clove, allspice or cumin. The wine’s dark richness will also work wonderfully with stir-fries loaded with soy, hoisin and ginger. At the end of the day, I still think a fun match is my recipe for Caramelized Onion Zin-Burgers with Crispy Cheddar Fricos.
Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma is a bastion of Zinfandel quality and tradition. A quarter of the valley’s vineyard acreage is planted to Zin, yielding up an abundance of Zinfandels with “Dry Creek Valley” on the label every year.
