This southern Italian white wine blends two of Campania’s most ancient varieties into a wine with exuberant fruit and racy minerality. On the nose, fresh lemon and lime zest are joined by a hint of almonds. On the palate, flavors of crisp pineapple and honeysuckle have a pleasing richness.

The white wines of Italy’s Campania region are only recently getting the attention they deserve. The most famous white grapes of Campania, the large region south of Rome, are Greco and Fiano. But the two varieties are very different. Greco is sharp, structured and citrusy, while Fiano is more rounded, waxy and nutty. Blending them isn’t easily accomplished, but when it’s done well, the results—as in this wine—are delicious. Founded in 2003, Vinosia (“new place of wine”) is the project of Mario and Luciano Ercolino, brothers from one of Campania’s most famous winemaking families.

Though Campania whites deserve more acclaim, the region’s Aglianico red wines still command the most attention.
