What a great color! This beauty has aromatics of ripe tropical fruits of pineapple, ripe pear, apricot and guava with grassy, herbal notes and hints of lemon blossom. Made in a fresh, crisp, easy-drinking style, the wine has complex fruit flavors of pineapple, peach and papaya with notions of lemongrass, honey and raisins—a bright exuberant, richly-textured wine.

Simonsig Estate upholds the legendary status of pioneering wine excellence shaped by the Malan dynasty’s devotion to quality and innovative winemaking. Since French Huguenot Jacques Malan first set foot in the Cape Winelands in 1688, the knowledge imparted over more than ten generations has equipped the Malan family to excel as one of the leading private producers of estate wines in South Africa. Named after its dramatic views of the Simonsberg Mountain, the estate is ideally situated in Stellenbosch, South Africa’s premier wine region, 45 km east of Cape Town. Simonsig Chenin Blanc was first released by founder Frans Malan in 1968 and over 43 years has developed a stellar reputation.
Chenin Blanc is loved by wine aficionados because it pairs exceptionally well with food. Its grounded, savory side is especially wonderful with poultry and fish. The Simonsig would be lovely with fresh river trout topped with almonds and a squeeze of lemon. It’s also a natural with poultry and will bring new dimensions to a classic roast chicken. Thanks to its complexity and acidity, the Simonsig is a good partner for aged creamy cheeses like Camembert.
Frans Malan was also one of the three founders of the famous Stellenbosch Wine Route, the first of its kind in Africa, introducing local wineries to wine lovers and tourists from all over the world since 1971.
