With vivid berry aromas spiked with cinnamon, this silky Pinot Noir delivers spicy strawberry flavors that have a dusty, earthy wildness to them. It's supple and smooth with lashings of sweet fruit, finely polished tannins and balanced acidity that provide a finely poised backbone for the vibrant fruit.

The Great Southern wine region in Western Australia, 350 miles south of Perth, is a beautiful sweeping land of green forests, dramatic cliffs and some of the oldest and reddest soils (that stain everything!) in the world. Plantagenet is distinguished for being the first winery in the region, established in 1975. From small beginnings, Plantagenet Wines is now one of the most respected Western Australian wineries consistently producing quality wines sourced from the oldest vineyards in the region. The winery's annual outdoor Shakespeare productions draw visitors from around the globe.
This Pinot has a streak of bright acidity that makes it especially food-friendly. It's easy-drinking enough on its own or for an afternoon picnic, but I like it with my Planked Salmon with Basil-Chive Butter. Cooking salmon on a cedar plank imparts light smoky nuances which will work wonderfully with the Omrah.
Owner Tim Smith is a very distant relative to Richard the Lionheart, an English Plantagenet King, hence the name.
