Barbera is Piedmont's most straightforwardly delicious red wine and is the region's most widely planted variety. The Orlando Abrigo is a deep ruby-red wine packed with aromas of plum and violet with overtones of resin and spices. It's medium-bodied with a dry earthiness and pleasing notions of cedar and menthol.
Plum, cherry, blueberry, dried earth, cedar and smoked meat.
The Abrigo family has tended their vineyards in the Langhe region near Alba for generations. In 1988 Giovanni Abrigo became the first formally educated oenologist in the family and subsequently introduced modern equipment and practices in addition to planting non-traditional Piedmont varietals like Chardonnay and Merlot. He also helps manage his wife's family winery located in the nearby village of Barolo, which specializes in the celebrated wine of the same name.
