This focused, elegant Chardonnay’s aromas feature tangerine, nectarine & almond. On the palate, the rich
flavors of pear and apple are complemented by a light touch of toasty oak and refreshing citrus with bright
acidity. You might even pick up notions of butterscotch, almond and saline with some minerality on the
finish. This is a bipartisan Chardonnay made in a classic centrist style.
Pear, lemon, apple, butterscotch.
Coming from a small town in the Central Valley of California, Dan Lee always wanted to study veterinary
medicine. It was late in his career at the University of California at Davis when he discovered that enology
satisfied his interest in both science and agriculture. Immediately enrolling in the graduate enology
program, Dan completed his studies and was hired at Jekel Vineyards in Monterey. After becoming
winemaker, he sensed that Monterey County was ideal for the cultivation and production of world-class
wines. It was at a meeting for the Monterey County Winegrowers Association that he shared his vision
with a banker, Donna, who encouraged him to open his own winery. In addition to becoming his business
advisor, that banker would also become Dan’s wife. Dan and Donna Lee’s dream of buying a property for
growing their own grapes and providing a building site for their permanent winery came true in the fall of
1996. The 65-acre property in the northern end of the Santa Lucia Highlands is perfect for growing Pinot
Noir and Chardonnay, the two cornerstone wines of Morgan Winery.
Chardonnay’s subtle flavors are easily overwhelmed by spicy and pungent foods, so serve the Morgan
Chardonnay with mild preparations of shellfish, fish or white meats like chicken or veal. The wine’s plush
texture will complement pâté or butter and cream sauces; its acidity will also cut the richness of these foods.
You cannot go wrong with my Sole Amandine à la Turlock.
With more than 30 years of experience, Dan Lee and the Morgan label have been synonymous with artisan,
vineyard-centric wines from the Santa Lucia Highlands and Monterey.
