Made from the Garganega grape, the Giale has good weight and great acidity. This is the kind of Italian wine that’s a superb option for Chardonnay lovers. Citrus and pear aromas are joined by pleasing scents of acacia, elderflower and honeysuckle. Flavors include orange peel, pear, light herbs, almond and flint. It’s a rich wine with excellent balance and awesome minerality.

Fourth generation wine growers Giacomo and Alessandro are brothers who combined their names to form Giale, the youngest line of an old-school family company that is still guided by their parents. The brothers have complete control over the Giale brand, which aims to transmit passion and enthusiasm and a modern approach designed to appeal to a younger, less traditional wine consumer. Together, they manage every aspect of the operation, from pruning to sales. The winery is located in the heart of the Soave production zone near the city of Verona. Only white wine is produced in the Soave region with a minimum of 70 percent of the wine coming from the Garganega grape.
With its supple flavors and minerality, the Giale will be terrific with shellfish or simple dishes like flaky white fish with butter and a squeeze of lemon, or my suggested recipe of Grilled Tuna Tonnato. It’s perfect with a Greek Salad or Camembert Cheese on a cracker.
Soave is actually a small wine town in the Veneto region of northern Italy. The town is enclosed by its medieval walls, topped by a castle and surrounded by vineyards producing the famous Soave wine.
