Enticing scents of red raspberry and dried cheery have an orange zest accent, while a whiff of Asian spice adds brightness. Velvety, and beautifully balanced, this Pinot Noir delivers polished red fruit flavors laced with notes of clove and game. The wine is silky, medium bodied and nicely balanced between lush ripe fruit and crisp acidity.

Ghostwriter is the product of winemaker Kenny Likitprakong, who has one singular focus for the brand: to grow Pinot and Chardonnay in some of the best soils of the Santa Cruz Mountains with little to no interference. Most of the work is done in three small separate vineyards. His umbrella company, the Hobo Wine Co., makes and markets a distinctly nontraditional series of wines. For example, his Banyon Wines brand is crafted to complement Thai food. Likitprakong, now 35, may be of Thai ancestry (his father is Thai, his mother is Jewish) but he grew up in Healdsburg surrounded by friends and family in the wine business. In an industry dominated by European blood and heritage, Likitprakong is among the few of Asian ancestry to emerge from the wine business in the United States.
Able to please both red and white wine lovers, Pinot Noir complements an array of foods. The dark fruit flavors and mild tannins in this Ghostwriter Pinot make it especially versatile at the table. It will shine next to everything from salmon and tuna dishes to duck, pork, poultry and even beef.
