For the Alondra, the goal was to produce a California Chardonnay without heaviness but with aromatic complexity and a clean fruit profile format. The result is overt aromatics of pear blossom with a tropical fruit interplaying with mango, guava and pineapple. The flavors follow through on the suave and stylish palate with a bracing mineral bent and beautiful balance. No oak gives this Mendocino County Chardonnay a light, lean profile, which makes it wonderfully versatile.

Alondra is Spanish for Skylark, the wine company established by the talented duo that run the wine program at the acclaimed Boulevard Restaurant in San Francisco for the past nine years. During their tenure at Boulevard, they built a close friendship and a vast knowledge of wine from the world over. They strive to produce wines that crystallize their passion, and through their relationships with meticulous and respected grape growers, they are able to produce wines of distinction and character that represent the best of what Northern California vineyards have to offer. Middleridge Ranch lies in a north to south valley just east of Hopland and the Russian River in Mendocino County. With warm days and cool nights, it is an excellent microclimate for growing Chardonnay grapes.
The holiday season and turkey are a classic combination and Chardonnay is a classic companion. Try the Alondra with my Whole Roast Turkey on the Cocorico. The citrus in the salt will bring out the best in the wine. Serve with your classic turkey accompaniments and my guess is once you've enjoyed this recipe, you'll be making it again soon!
