This is a distinctly new-world Sangiovese with California character. The nose has hints of dried violets, chocolate covered cherries, and black licorice. These notes follow through on the palate paired with ripe stone fruits, black tea, and big soft tannins. It will be fun to see how this wine ages, but equally as pleasing to drink it now.

Some people are lucky enough to find their true passion early in life. Virginia native Nicole Abiouness discovered shortly after college that her passion was not academics but food and wine. She decided to attend the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley—known as the “Harvard of cooking schools”— where she found herself taking every wine class she could. Internships and apprenticeships led her from Napa to Australia, Bordeaux and Burgundy, until she found herself back in California with the opportunity to make wine under her own label. She jumped at the chance, and thus the winery, which focuses on Pinot Noir and Sangiovese, was born.
This versatile Sangiovese will work well with your favorite pasta, pizza or mushroom risotto but I am recommending my Long-Cooked Hen in Tomato Sauce.
